There is not a whole lot out there on this pose, but it is one of my favorites. Holding the opposing foot while in a standing backbend is a very strong yet balanced asana that requires grounding in the standing leg, and the lower chakras in an effort to obtain the subconscious rooting sensation that your feet are rooted beyond the surface. Once the storm rolls in; you kick your leg, the struggle to keep yourself balanced is the storm so you must find that rooted strength and hold on to weather the storm, or 5 – 10 breathes as you build stamina, strength and flexibility. The side effects are a clear, calm and objective mind and a strong and lean body. Join me on the mat and lets examine this asana further.
